Our services For allergic disorders

There has been a dramatic rise in allergic diseases in the western industrialised nations over the past few decades. To date, science has not been able to find a conclusive cause. Early and persistent treatment is important to prevent the disease progressing.

Allergies can be caused by a number of substances, e.g. dust mites, mould, animal hair, food and also plant pollen. We use skin prick testing (SPT) to establish if you suffer from an allergy. Standardised allergenic substances are applied to the skin. In some cases, we may also carry out a RAST test on request. We use blood samples for more precise differentiation of allergens. Once we have the results of the skin prick or RAST test, we will then discuss your treatment options with you.

We may also carry out an additional nasal provocation test for further verification. In this test, we instil a few drops of a diluted allergenic substance into the nose and use rhinomanometry to measure the resistance to airflow through the nasal passages. If the inside of the nose starts to swell, we have proof that you are allergic to this substance and will then discuss with you how best to treat it. One option for long-term relief is hyposensitisation, a specific type of immunotherapy. The aim is to get the immune system used to the allergenic substance and thus reduce the severity of the allergic disease.

There are different types of hyposensitisation treatment. We are happy to advise you about the most suitable one for you.
